The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved a $3-million loan for the construction of a new affordable housing complex in North Hills.

The Main Apartments, proposed by Beatles-themed development firm Abbey Road, would rise just off of Sepulveda Boulevard at 15302 Rayen Street. Plans call for the construction of a four-story building containing 64 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.

The project will include apartments affordable to renters earning up to 30 percent of the area median income level, per a staff report to the Board.

According to a landing page on the Abbey Road website, the project is being designed by AC Martin, with Walton Construction Services as general contractor and on-site services to be provided by Penny Lane Centers. The contemporary low-rise structure is also to include a 43-car garage, a community room, a multipurpose room, a fitness room, and multiple outdoor decks.

Money authorized by the Board of Supervisors will be leveraged with an additional $56 million in funds from other sources to cover the estimated $59 million cost of the project.

Abbey Road is also developing The Rigby apartments on a neighboring site along Rayen Street.
