A vacant lot located just north of the Santa Monica College campus is set to be redeveloped with townhomes, according to plans recently filed with the City of Santa Monica.
The property, located at 1949 17th Street, is slated for the construction of nine townhomes ranging from 1,028 to 1,461 square feet in size. The project would utilize the provisions of SB 684, a state bill which streamlined the approval of townhome-style housing projects.
Lopez Architects is designing the project, which is shown in renderings as a collection of contemporary three-story structures with two- and three-bedroom floor plans. No on-site parking is proposed.
City records list the owner of the property as real estate agent RC Thornton.
The project is the latest in a recent string of projects in the Pico neighborhood and Woodlawn Cemetery, including four affordable housing projects built at nearby sites along Pico Boulevard and 14th Street.
