The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved a $2.8-million affordable housing trust fund grant for the construction of senior housing int he City of San Fernando.
The project, which is proposed by an entity affiliated with Aszkenazy Development along with the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians and Pukuu Cultural Community Services, would rise from a vacant lot located at 208 Jessie Street. Plans call for the construction of a 27-unit affordable housing development for residents aged 62 and up.
Per a staff report, the apartments are to be rented to households earning between 30 and 50 percent of the area median income level.
The County will provide $2.8 million for the project.
The project site located just over one mile north of the intersection of San Fernando Road and Van Nuys Boulevard, the future northern terminus of Metro's East San Fernando Valley light rail line, and a potential transfer point to Metrolink's Antelope Valley Line.
