Commercial buildings in Palms is set to give way to a mixed-use affordable housing complex, per an application filed earlier this year the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
The proposal, which comes from an entity affiliated with DCM Rentals, would rise from a site located at 9700 W. Venice Boulevard. Plans call for the new construction of a seven-story building featuring 115 one- bedroom apartments above parking for nine vehicles and 505 square feet of ground-level retail space.
Save for a mandatory manager's unit, all of the apartments would be rented to low- and moderate-income renters, making the project eligible for affordable housing incentives under the citywide housing incentive program.
Open Office is designing the project, according to a form filed with the City.
The project is one of numerous mixed-use projects reshaping the Venice corridor through Palms, including a larger project which would bring 490 apartments to a site near Culver City Station a few blocks to the east.
The same project team is developing two similar projects along La Brea Avenue in Mid-City.
