A presentation to the Pasadena Design Commission reveals plans for a new housing complex north of the 210 Freeway.
The project from property owner LSJ Development, Inc., slated for a corner lot at 1062 and 1072 E. Villa Street and 445 and 459 N. Wilson Avenue, calls for replacing four single-family homes with a three-story complex consisting of 22 three-bedroom apartments with parking for 22 vehicles in a subterranean garage.
Eric Tsang Architects is designing the project, which would be of the Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean Revival style.
"The design utilizes a 'City of Gardens' typology," reads a narrative included with project plans. A centrally located, rectangular courtyard serves as the project's heart, providing residents with meaningful shared open space and a visual connection to the street. The building's massing is carefully scaled at three stories to ensure compatibility with the surrounding neighborhood."
Plans included with the presentation name the project "Villa Soleil."
The project is the subject a preliminary presentation, and a final vote on the concept is not scheduled at this point in time.
