Linc Housing Corp. has commenced work on a new affordable housing complex in Long Beach's Zaferia neighborhood, the City announced late last month.

Thrive at Fountain, named for its location at 4151 E. Fountain Street, will include a pair of new three- and four-story buildings featuring 73 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments intended for families. All will meet state and federal accessibility regulations, and 18 of the apartments are to be reserved for residents with disabilities.

Groundbreaking for Thrive at FountainCity of Long Beach

“The new Thrive community delivers more affordable homes in close proximity to schools, parks, the library, and transit, helping reduce household costs for working families while expanding access to everyday resources and opportunity,” said Mayor Rex Richardson in a news release. “By locating this development along a major transit corridor, we are building a more connected, sustainable, and inclusive Long Beach."

The apartments are to be available to renters earning at or below 30 and 60 percent of the area median income level.

BAR Architects is designing the project, which will incorporate a central courtyard, two outdoor decks, and a dog run.

The $66.1 million project is expected to be completed in late 2027. Funding sources include the Long Beach Community Investment Company, as well as other private and public sources.

The project is one of six affordable housing developments now under construction in the City of Long Beach.
