In Chinatown, construction is completed for a new modular apartment complex near L.A. State Historic Park.

Designed by AO, the project at 1457 N. Main Street is named The Parkline in reference to the nearby green space. The six-story structure is composed of prefabricated modular units, and contains 376 studio and one-bedroom apartments atop 6,448 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and parking for 82 vehicles.

As a condition of approval, project developer Thrive Living is required to set aside 42 apartments as extremely low-income affordable housing. However, the developer has also announced its intent to target the remaining unrestricted units to moderate-income renters earning up to 80 percent of the area median income level.

Construction of The Parkline commenced in late 2023. Its completion follows similar the completion of a similar development at 200 Mesnager Avenue, and a prelude to a larger project at 201 Sotello Street.

Thrive Living and AO recently commenced work on an even larger project: an 800-unit apartment complex in Baldwin Hills that will include a Costco on the ground floor
