The City of Norwalk has signed off on a proposal which would calls for razing and redeveloping a hotel next to the I-5 Freeway.

Hotel Saddleback, located on a 7.7-acre property at 12500 Firestone Boulevard, is a 230-room hotel which also includes restaurant space and a banquet hall. The project approved by Norwalk calls for redeveloping approximately 5.9 acres of the hotel site with a project from Brandywine Homes which would include 120 single-family homes and townhomes, with the remaining 1.8 acres at the eastern corner of the property reserved for the construction of a new four-story, 130-room hotel. Parking for more than 400 vehicles would be provided across the site.

Brandywine's housing would include buildings standing two and three stories in height and including a mix of three- and four-bedroom floor plans. Additional details regarding the hotel are not clear at this point in time, as the project may evolve depending on market conditions and the chosen operator.

Plans show that Angeleno Associates is designing the townhomes, while Flores Design Group is attached to the hotel, which would be developed by Vaidehi Inc.

The project was adopted as an amendment to the Heart of Norwalk Specific Plan, a 2021 policy which approved new zoning rules to encourage the construction of more than 3,000 homes in the area to the southwest of the I-5 Freeway.
