In West Hills, site preparation has commenced for a downsized senior affordable housing complex.
Last year, the Los Angeles City Planning Commission upheld the approval of the project, which would rise at 7556-7572 N. Woodlake Avenue. JZ Development, LLC, the project applicant, obtained city approvals in 2024 for the construction of a five-story structure containing 332 apartments reserved for low- and moderate-income seniors and parking for 154 vehicles.
JZA Architecture designed that project, which was shown in renderings with a Mediterranean style design.
Permits issued by the Department of Building and Safety now indicate that the project team has opted to move forward with a smaller project. Plans now call for a four-to-five-story building with 160 residential units.
The project site, which is approximately 96,000 square feet in size, was developed with a single-family home in the 1920s.
