A year-and-a-half after breaking ground steps from the Port of Los Angeles, the first component of the Rancho San Pedro redevelopment is nearing the finish line.

The project, which is being delivered by a joint venture between Richman Group, National CORE, Century Housing, and the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, is located at 327 N. Harbor Boulevard. The new four-story, 47-unit apartment building is intended to provide replacement housing for residents of the larger public housing complex as it is redeveloped in phases.

KFA Architecture is designing 327 Harbor, which is clad in white and blue stucco. Resident amenities are to include a community room, a landscaped courtyard, a children’s play area, and a fitness room.

The larger Rancho San Pedro redevelopment calls for razing and rebuilding the 1940s public housing complex over a period of up to 20 years. The One San Pedro Collaborative plan calls for the construction of up to 1,553 homes - more than triple what exists today - as well as 130,000 square feet of commercial uses and five acres of open space and parks. Of the total housing, more than 1,000 units are to be deed-restricted affordable housing.
