LINC Housing has completed construction of Mosaic Gardens at Westlake, a new affordable housing community located just west of Downtown Los Angeles.

The $57-million development rose from a long-vacant lot at the corner of Beverly Boulevard and Lucas Avenue, and consists of a six-story building featuring 125 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments serving the formerly homeless, low-income families, and seniors.  Rents in the building are set between $398 and $1,295 per month.

Lahmon Architects designed Mosaic Gardens, which also features a two-level subterranean parking garage, a 1,700-square-foot community kitchen, a laundry facility, two courtyards, a fitness center, a playground, and case management rooms.

The project, which broke ground in June 2016, is designed to achieve LEED Platinum Certification.

An official ribbon-cutting ceremony will debut Mosaic Gardens on June 21.  According to LINC, nearly 1,900 applications were submitted for the initial lottery of 60 apartments, which was made available to households making up to 60 percent of the Los Angeles area median income.

LINC's upcoming pipeline also includes affordable housing developments near the Blue Line in Long Beach and the Crenshaw/LAX Line in Inglewood.
