Two years after breaking ground 9th and Hope Streets, CIM Group is nearing completion at its new Downtown apartment tower.
The project, known as 888 at Grand Hope Park, replaced a longtime surface parking lot with a 34-story tower featuring 526 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, penthouse units, and a standalone parking structure. Plans also call for ground-floor retail space within the tower and adjacent parking garage, as well as an elevated amenity deck for residents.
CallisonRTKL designed the boxy high-rise building, which is clad in metal and glass.
888 at Grand Hope Park represents a long-awaited buildout of a decades-old master plan for CIM, which also built the adjacent Market Lofts and entitled the 8th and Hope apartment tower one block north.
A portion of the parking structure has already been open for well over a year, with a Petco occupying the entirety of its ground floor.
Grand Hope Park, completed in 1993, may soon have another high-rise neighbor, as Forest City has announced plans to redevelop its Los Angeles offices at 949 S. Hope Street with a 27-story apartment tower.
