A pair of tower cranes now soars above Vine Street in Hollywood, as Kilroy Realty's Academy development begins to take shape.
The $450-million project - which occupies a full city block bounded Vine Street, De Longpre, Ivar, and Homewood Avenues - will feature a trio of low-rise office buildings containing 335,000 square feet of rentable space and a 20-story, 200-unit residential tower. Plans also call for a 16,500-square-foot production building and a series of ground-floor shops and restaurants, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Downtown-based architecture firm Shimoda Design Group is designing the project, which will feature a central paseo running east-to-west through the property.
Completion of the Academy is anticipated in early 2020.
The mixed-use complex is the second major ground-up project for Kilroy in Hollywood, following the nearby Columbia Square development, which repurposed a portion of a historic CBS radio broadcast facility.
Other projects now under construction on surrounding blocks include a new Godfrey Hotel and a $110-million apartment complex known as the Rise Hollywood.
