Following a "top-to-bottom redesign," the Mayfair Hotel reopens today at the corner of 7th Street and Witmer Avenue, just west of Downtown Los Angeles.
The 15-story, 294-room hotel, established in 1926, has received an overhaul by Los Angeles-based developer ICO Group of Companies. Gulla Jónsdóttir Architecture & Design and Artist-in-Residence Kelly "RISK" Graval were tapped to design the renovation, which is billed as a modern recreation of vintage 1920s designs.
ICO partnered with Hospitality Alliance to program the Mayfair's dining and lounge spaces. Offerings will include Eve American Bistro, M Bar, The Library Bar, and an outdoor pool.
The hotel sits directly across from the site of a proposed 27-story apartment tower by American Lifan, the U.S. subsidiary of the Chinese motorcycle manufacturer Lifan Motors. Also under construction at 7th and Witmer is a 76-unit affordable housing development by Deep Green Housing.
