At its meeting earlier this month, the West Hollywood Planning Commission's Design Review Subcommittee took a look at a proposed multifamily residential development north of the Sunset Strip.
The Shoreham Lofts project, slated for a property at 8670 Shoreham Drive, calls for the construction of a three-story building featuring 11 residential units above a one-level basement garage. Plans call for a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom dwellings, as well as 23 parking spaces.
Owner and developer Shoreham Capital has tapped Santa Monica-based architect John Mebasser to design the project, which would include a rooftop deck and numerous private balconies. A design review by architect Gwynne Pugh describes the building has having an "almost 'turn-of-the-century Paris' quality" to it, with tall narrow windows and ornate deck railing materials. He recommends that the project receive approval.
Another multifamily residential development is also moving through the West Hollywood approvals process at this point in time, this one located a few blocks west on Larrabee Street.
