This week, Santa Monica's Architectural Review Board will take another mixed-use development planned by WS Communities.

The proposed five-story building, slated for the current site of three small commercial structures at 1437-1443 Lincoln Boulevard, would contain 40 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments - including five designated affordable units - atop 3,777 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 87 parking spaces on three basement levels.  Plans also call for amenities such as a rooftop deck.

Santa Monica-based KFA Architecture is designing the mid-rise structure, which would be clad with a mix of smooth plaster, metal panels, concrete, and stained wood siding.  It is described as a contemporary infill project, similar in scale and form to other nearby developments.

A staff report to the Architectural Review Board states that the project is consistent with the City of Santa Monica's criteria for design and landscape review, and recommends approval.

WS Communities, which is also based out of Santa Monica, recently broke ground on a five-story, 100-unit development nearby at Lincoln Boulevard and Colorado Avenue.
