The Metric Hotel has begun to rise in Downtown's City West neighborhood. Wood framing is taking shape on the ground level, and the concrete foundation is currently in the process of being poured. The project is situated on a .21-acre lot at 285 Lucas Avenue - replacing Jerry's Motel, which was demolished earlier this year.
The new five-story boutique hotel will feature 28 guest rooms and amenities. Aaron Nuebert Architects is designing the project with modular building components and a glass and steel façade. It is being marketed towards younger travelers as an affordable alternative to the large corporate hotel chains, which dominate the Downtown LA hotel market.
The Metric was originally expected to finish in 2017, though it is now likely to be completed in 2019. An official opening date has not been announced.
