Scheduled to open in 2023, the multi-modal transit hub will be built upon a 9.5-acre site adjacent to the Crenshaw/LAX Line maintenance yard at the southwest corner Arbor Vitae Street and Aviation Boulevard. The new station will also connect to multiple bus lines and feature a Metro Bike hub.
A connection is also planned the LAX Automated People Mover also scheduled to open in 2023 which will shuttle passengers to and from the Central Terminal Area. That project is also set to open in 2023.
The project, called 96th Street Station, is being designed with swooping canopies, skylights, and glazed screens to create a spacious environment for travelers, according to Grimshaw.
