An environmental report published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning unveils a new look for a proposed mixed-use high-rise development in Koreatown.
The project, which would span a nearly one-acre property at 3800 W. 6th Street, calls for razing a parking lot and small commercial building to make way for the construction of a 21-story tower featuring 122 condominiums, a 192-room hotel, and 14,495 square feet of retail space. Parking for up to 278 vehicles would be provided within two subterranean levels.
LARGE Architecture is designing the project, which would rise to a maximum height of 240 feet above ground level. The hotel and two floors of shops and restaurants would be located within an eight-story podium structure, capped with a 36,000-square-foot amenity deck, while the condominiums would sit above that in a tower structure.
The proposed hotel will reportedly operate as a Hyatt Centric.
Construction of 3800 W. 6th Street is anticipated to occur over a period of 18-to-24 months, starting in mid-2019 and concluding between mid- and late-2021, according to the environmental report.
The project applicant is listed as 3800 West Sixth Street, LLC, an entity affiliated with Gateway Secured Regional Center.
A similar mid-rise development featuring a hotel, condominiums, and retail is planned one block east at 6th Street and Harvard Boulevard.
