In Silver Lake, the wood frame of a mixed-use development is now rising near the intersection of Santa Monica and Sunset Boulevards.
The three-story building, located at 4121 Santa Monica Boulevard, will offer 41 apartments above 13,300 square feet of ground-floor retail space and basement parking.
ShubinDonaldson is designing the contemporary low-rise building, which will feature two wings divided by a central courtyard.
Developer CIM Group originally conceived the project as a standalone retail building, before seeking new entitlements for the development to the Transit Oriented Communities guidelines.
Completion is expected in the third quarter of 2019.
Nearby, local developer Frost/Chaddock is planning three buildings that will bring a hotel, apartments, and retail to Sunset Boulevard.
