Related California and the Foundation for Affordable Housing have completed construction of Citrea, an affordable housing development in Downtown Fullerton.
The five-story building, located at 336 E. Santa Fe Avenue, stands on a property that once housed a production facility for Hawaiian Punch. Now, the property provides 54 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments for low-income families, as well as amenities and social services provided by LifeSteps.
The one-acre project site is located a block east of the Fullerton Transportation Center, as well as a nearby community center, a library, and a public park.
Hawaiian Punch, invented in 1934 in Fullerton, was bottled in a plant at 336 E. Santa Fe Avenue starting in the 1950s. The property's historic use is represented by a mural along the site, designed by artist Mike Tauber, which faces the nearby rail tracks used by Metrolink and Amtrak.
