A vacant commercial building in Wilmington could be replaced with affordable housing, according to plans submitted yesterday to the City of Los Angeles.
The one-story structure, located at 445 N. Avalon Boulevard, is slated to give way for a 32-unit apartment building. Requested entitlements for the proposed development include density bonus incentives, which would be granted for reserving all of the apartments for lower-income households.
The applicant behind the proposed development is listed as an entity called 435-445 Avalon, LLC, which is based out of the same Hermosa Beach address as the real estate appraisal company Roth + Associates. Another entity with the same address filed plans in September 2018 to develop affordable housing in South Los Angeles.
Additional details regarding the project on Avalon Boulevard are currently unclear.
Last year, Long Beach-based developer LINC Housing Corp. filed plans to construct its own affordable apartment building in Wilmington - a three-story, 56-unit structure at 1424 Deepwater Avenue.
