After years of delay, a $300 million high-rise building is rapidly climbing upwards in Century City.

Last summer, Miami-based developer Crescent Heights broke ground on 10000 Santa Monica Boulevard, a 40-story apartment tower straddling the border between the cities of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills.  The property, vacant for over ten years, will eventually yield 283 luxury apartments ranging from 1,500 to more than 3,000 square feet.  The series of one-, two-and-three-bedroom units will be supplemented by plush amenities including a tennis court and an outdoor swimming pool.

The project, designed by Handel Architects, is described as consisting of "four crystal-like quadrants," with "floor-to-ceiling [glass] that creates a luminous and transparent facade."  The 483-foot structure will also feature a sloping rooftop, establishing a unique presence amongst Century City's ubiquitously modern skyline.

Construction of the 10000 Santa Monica Boulevard has progressed to the 10th floor above ground, with completion expected in 2016.  The tower is one of numerous large developments underway on surrounding blocks, including the upcoming expansion of the Westfield Century City shopping complex and the new Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills.
