A new medical office building could replace a light industrial building just east of Huntington Hospital in Pasadena.
The project, slated for a property at 650 S. Raymond Avenue, calls for the construction of a four-story building featuring approximately 35,000 square feet of medical offices with nearly 3,400 square feet of ground-floor retail. Plans also call for 125 parking spaces to be located on five subterranean levels.
The design by Enter-Arc, Inc. is described as contemporary, and is intended to "create a dialogue" with an adjacent building. Plans call for a flat roof with an articulated cornice, and an array of rooftop solar panels.
A staff report to the Pasadena Design Commission recommends several areas in which the project can be refined, including potential programming for a ground-floor setback and improved sidewalk interaction.
In addition to Huntington Hospital, the project site abuts the Gold Line's Filmore Station, and sits just north of the ArtCenter College of Design's South Campus, which is poised for a major expansion.
