A proposed affordable housing development in the Taylor Yard Transit Village is in line to obtain $2.5 million in federal funding, according to a notice issued earlier this month by the Los Angeles Housing and Community Investment Department.
Parque Vista, slated for a property at 2851 Chaucer Street, would consist of five three-story buildings featuring 42 apartments - including flats and multi-level townhomes - with two- and three-bedroom floor plans ranging between 900 and 1,150 square feet in size. Plans also call for common open spaces, a community room, a community garden, and parking for 64 vehicles.
The project will cater to large families in Northeast Los Angeles earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income.
The notice distributed by HCID indicates that the City of Los Angeles expects to request $2.5 million in federal funding for the Parque Vista development by June 24.
The $180-million Taylor Yard Transit Village is being developed by McCormack Baron Salazar, and calls for approximately 400 units of for-sale and affordable rental housing. The developer recently requested permission Metro to alter its master plan to cut an approximately 16,700-square-foot retail component from the project in favor of an additional 56 housing units.
A portion of the Taylor Yard, which was once a Southern Pacific Railroad maintenance and storage facility, is slated to be transformed into park space as part of the Los Angeles River restoration effort.
