An initial study published by the City of Los Angeles provides new details regarding the Bell Creek Apartments, a proposed affordable housing development in Canoga Park.
The project, filed earlier this year by Meta Housing Corp., would replace three houses and a vacant lot at 6940-6958 N. Owensmouth Avenue. Plans call for the construction of a five-story building featuring 80 residential units and 66 parking spaces. The proposed development would provide 40 one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings, reserved for special needs persons and low-income families earning between 30 and 80 percent of the area median income.
Ken Stockton Architects is designing the contemporary podium-type building, which would incorporate stone veneer, wood trellises, and tile roofing into its exterior. Architectural plans show open space amenities including a multi-purpose room, three courtyards, a rooftop deck, and a lounge area.
The initial study estimates a 21-month construction period for the Bell Creek Apartments, which project delivery scheduled to occur in 2021.
Meta Housing Corp. has applied for approximately $7.1 million in Measure HHH funds for the project. The total development budget is nearly $40 million.
