After three months of construction, Skid Row Housing Trust's $50-million Flor 401 Lofts development has started to climb.
The project, located at the northeast corner of 7th and Wall Streets, will consist of a six-story building featuring 97 studio apartments and supportive services.
According to a staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, rents at Flor 401 will be set between $473 and $788 per month. The project will cater to the chronically homeless, including veterans, low-income persons, and special needs persons.
Koning Eizenberg Architecture is designing the project, which will have a U-shaped footprint centered on a larger internal courtyard. Renderings depict pedestrian bridges linking the two wings of the building.
Completion of Flor 401 is expected in approximately one year.
Skid Row Housing Trust is building a similar project - the 649 Lofts - at the opposite corner of 7th and Wall Streets. The non-profit developer is also in the midst of construction at another permanent supportive housing development at the intersection of 7th and San Pedro Street.
