Last year, local investor Nathan Korman submitted plans to the City of Los Angeles construct a seven-story, 68-unit apartment complex with retail at 1723 N. Wilcox Avenue. Now, according to an entitlement application filed yesterday with the Department of City Planning, Korman has discarded that project in favor of a hotel.
A case filing describes the proposed development at a seven-story building featuring 81 guest rooms, two levels of above-ground parking, and a 1,903-square-foot rooftop restaurant. Requested entitlements include conditional use permit to allow for on-site alcohol consumption and the development of a hotel in an R5 zone outside of the Central City Community Plan Area.
Additional details regarding the project are not described in its case filing.
Just south of the existing 18-unit apartment complex - which dates to the 1920s - a neighboring property owner has proposed developing a 133-room hotel on what is now a surface parking lot.
Two blocks west, another pre-war apartment complex is slated to make way for a 10-story, 156-room hotel.
