The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has adopted a resolution authorizing the provision of $10 million in mortgage revenue bonds for the financing of an affordable housing development in the unincorporated community of South Whittier.
The project, which is being developed by LINC Housing Corporation, would redevelop the former South Whittier Library at 14433 Leffingwell Road. Plans call for a two-bedroom manager's apartment and 26 one-bedroom apartments - reserved for homeless persons earning 30 percent of less than the area median income - with parking for 10 vehicles.
The non-profit organization Jovenes is partnering with LINC as a service provider for residents, who are expected to transitional-aged youth.
Renderings of the LINC Library Apartments depict a contemporary three-story structure with outdoor amenities.
An affordability covenant recorded on the property will mandate that the 26 apartments remain as affordable housing for a period of 55 years.
LINC Housing is developing a slew of affordable and permanent supportive housing developments across Los Angeles County, including projects in Long Beach, San Pedro, Watts, Wilmington, and Willowbrook.
