Clifford Beers Housing has tweaked its plans for a mixed-use affordable housing development in Panorama City, reports Streetsblog.
The Corazon del Valle development, slated for a Los Angeles County-owned site at 14545 Lanark Street, was originally envisioned as a collection of low-rise structures featuring 120 units of affordable and supportive housing. After soliciting community feedback, Clifford Beers now intends to build the project as a larger two-phase development consisting of four buildings containing 180 subsidized apartments.
The apartments would come in a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans, priced for households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income. Other components of Corazon del Valle would include 3,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, as well as bicycle and vehicle parking.
As with the original project, the new design comes from Perkins + Will. Renderings depict a series of contemporary five-story structures featuring amorphous footprints. This is in stark contrast to the earlier proposal, which had called for a cascading array of two, three-, and five-story structures which would descend in height approaching Lanark Street.
Construction of Corazon del Valle is to be split into two halves, each of which would consist of 90 residential units. The first phase of the development would begin in early 2021, reports Streetsblog.
The proposed development will rise just west of a new light rail line slated to run in the median of Van Nuys Boulevard.
