A vacant lot in San Pedro is slated for a multifamily residential development, according to plans filed earlier this week with the City of Los Angeles.
The approximately 17,000-square-foot site, located at 420 W. 9th Street, would be developed with a multi-story structure containing 56 apartments - including six extremely low-income affordable units - under plans from the Lauri Group.
Requested entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities incentives for reduced open space and side yard setbacks. The project will also require a certificate of compatibility with the Vinegar Hill Historic Preservation Overlay Zone.
The Vinegar Hill neighborhood was developed between the mid-1880s and late 1920s, according to the City's Office of Historic Resources. Surrounding homes are designed in the Queen Anne, American Foursquare, and Craftsman styles.
The project site is located just east of a city-owned parking lot where LINC Housing and National CORE are planning a six-story, 91-unit development with subsidized affordable housing.
