Construction began last month for a mixed-use complex featuring housing and ground-floor commercial space next to Metro's North Hollywood Station, according to a representative of developer Richman Group.
The project, located at the northwest corner of Chandler and Lankershim Boulevards, will consist of a seven-story building featuring 127 apartments above approximately 12,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and a 218-car garage. Plans call for a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings, with 10 to be priced for lower-income renters.
The contemporary podium-type structure is designed by DesignARC. Architectural plans show an array of on-site amenities, including a podium-level courtyard and swimming pool and common rooms such as a resident lounge and a fitness center.
Completion is anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2021, according to Richman Group.
Richman Group, based out of Connecticut, is developing several market-rate and affordable projects in the Los Angeles area, including a similar mixed-use building at the Gold Line's Monrovia Station. The company is also a partner in the planned redevelopment of the Rancho San Pedro public housing complex near the Los Angeles Waterfront.
The project at Chandler and Lankershim joins several other mixed-use and multifamily residential buildings now rising near North Hollywood Station, including Greystar's 329-unit Weddington development, which is located a few blocks east.
A joint development featuring mixed-income housing, office space, and retail is also slated to rise on the park-and-ride lot which wraps the subway and bus rapid transit station.
