A year after we last dropped by, Uncommon continues to make progress at a mixed-use campus in Chatsworth.
The project, called 24, is located at the intersection of Winnetka Avenue and Prairie Street. Acres of surface parking lots surrounding a former Los Angeles Times printing plant have been redeveloped with a series of mid-rise structures which will feature 660 apartments and retail upon completion.
The former printing facility, located at the center of the campus, has been repurposed as the new headquarters of MGA Entertainment, the toymaker behinds the Bratz dolls line. Approximately 430 MGA employees occupy the 255,000-square-foot structures as of August 2019.
Other elements of the master-planned project, designed by KFA Architecture, include a gym, swimming pools, a sports park, community gardens, a preschool, and outdoor walking paths.
Completion is expected in phases between 2021 and 2022, reports the San Fernando Valley Business Journal.
Though the 24 campus is Uncommon's largest project, it is not the company's only ongoing development in Los Angeles. Uncommon is also planning a 57-unit development in Beverly Grove and a 52-unit apartment complex in Frogtown.
