Developer MCAP Partners is one step closer to building new rental housing in Hollywood.
Earlier today, the Los Angeles City Planning Commission approved the Orange Flats development, which would rise from two parcels at 1130-1134 N. Orange Drive. Plans call for the construction of a five-story edifice featuring 24 one- and two-bedrooms apartments - including three very low-income affordable units - above 17 subterranean parking spaces.
Office Untitled is designing the low-rise building, which would be highlighted by an incremental series of setbacks along its southern property line which would be used to create private terrace decks. The building itself would be clad in cement, porcelain tile, and perforated metal screens.
Construction is expected to occur over approximately 22 months. MCAP had previously hoped to break ground on the project in October 2019.
The development site is flanked to the north by Sol Hollywood, a new development of 24 small lot homes.
Immediately south of the Orange Flats property, Onni Group began work earlier this year on a seven-story, 231-unit apartment complex which will front Santa Monica Boulevard.
MCAP, which is headquartered in Hollywood, has numerous mixed-use and multifamily residential developments planned throughout the neighborhood.
