Yet another striking hotel development is underway on the world famous Sunset Strip.
Crews recently cleared a 1.37-acre lot located at 9040 Sunset Boulevard, setting the stage for construction of West Hollywood's highly anticipated Edition Hotel and Residences. The project - which is being developed by a joint venture between Marriott International, the Witkoff Group and New Valley - will serve as the Edition brand's West Coast flagship, offering 148 guest rooms, 20 condominiums, and a variety of food, beverage and nightlife venues.
The mixed-use complex, designed by John Pawson and Ian Schrager, will consist of two mid-rise structures with frontage on Sunset Boulevard, Doheny Drive and Harratt Street. The northern side of the property, bordering the Sunset Strip, will be developed with a boxy 13-story tower. The rear of the project site, fronting Harratt Street, would feature a nine-story building stacked above a two-level parking garage.
Completion of the West Hollywood Edition is expected to occur in 2018.
The project is one of numerous hotel developments either proposed or underway along the Sunset Strip, including a posh James Hotel at La Cienega Boulevard and a 149-room Sunset Time planned for the current site of the House of Blues.
