Architectural plans posted by the Mid City West Neighborhood Council offer a first look at a mixed-use development planned just north of the Beverly Center.
The project, filed with the Los Angeles Planning Department in November 2019 by an entity affiliated with the South Park Group, calls for razing a set of small commercial buildings at 316-320 N. La Cienega Boulevard to make way for a six-story edifice featuring 66 apartments above approximately 4,100 square feet of ground-floor retail and a three-level, 77-car basement parking garage. The mix of studio and one-bedroom dwellings would include five apartments set aside as very low-income affordable housing.
NMDA is designing the 320 La Cienega development in coordination with Togawa Smith Martin. Renderings depict a contemporary podium-type structure, with a fifth-level setback used to create a landscaped outdoor deck. On the building's interior, plans call for open space amenities such as a community room and a fitness center.
The proposed development follows a similar proposal from South Park Group at 8000 Beverly Boulevard which would also feature multifamily housing above ground-floor retail and subterranean parking.
Other developers with projects in the Beverly Grove area include Stark Industries, which is planning a 96-unit apartment complex on the opposite side of La Cienega Boulevard.
