Six months after we last stopped by, the concrete skeleton of Apple's new Culver City office building is now complete at the corner of Washington and National Boulevards, and a curving glass facade is creeping upwards.
The project - a joint development between LPC West and Clarion Partners - consists of a four-story structure which will contain approximately 125,000 square feet of offices atop 4,500 square feet of street-fronting retail and restaurant space.
The contemporary low-rise building was designed by Gensler.
Upon completion of construction, now anticipated to occur in 2020, the building at 8777 Washington Boulevard will serve as the new home base of Apple's Culver City operations - largely consisting of the new content division established to create films and television shows for the Apple TV Plus streaming service. Apple will reportedly employ more than 1,000 people in Culver City by 2022.
Apple is not the only content provider ramping up its presence in Culver City.
Just across National Boulevard, WarnerMedia recently leased approximately 240,000 square feet of office space at the $300-million Ivy Station development to serve as the new West Coast headquarters of HBO.
A half-mile west on Washington Boulevard, Amazon has leased approximately 570,000 square feet of space at the Culver Steps and Culver Studios complex to serve as the new home of Amazon Studios and other subsidiaries.
