Meta Housing Corporation has completed construction for the Metro @ Compton Senior Apartments, a $20.3-million affordable housing community for persons aged 55 and older.

The three-story development, located at 302 North Tamarind Avenue, consists 75 one- and two-bedroom apartments within walking distance of the Metro Blue Line's Compton Station.  The complex sits directly across the street from Compton's new Senior Activity Center, which offers a community room, an outdoor living room with water features and a barbeque.

Designed by Y&M Architects as a Green Point rated project, the Metro @ Compton features a number of environmentally-friendly amenities, including including a solar power and photovoltaic system used to heat water and generate electricity.  The building also employs a gray water system which reuses water from on-site washing machines for landscaping purposes.
