After a series of marathon meetings that tested the resolve of observers, the Los Angeles City Council is beginning to resume a more regular schedule.
Starting the week of May 4, the City Council will begin meeting on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, according to a letter sent by City Council President Nury Martinez to her colleagues. Remote meetings will continue due to the COVID-19-related safer at home order.
Council Committee meetings are also scheduled to resume on April 30 with a special meeting of the Public Works & Gang Reduction Committee. Additional committee meetings could resume afterward, according to the letter sent by Martinez.
This will be followed by a meeting of the Budget & Finance Committee on May 11, where Councilmembers will receive a staff report on the City's financial state in the wake of the pandemic.
City Commissions, which were also paused in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak, have resumed meeting via teleconferencing. The Cultural Heritage Commissions, which weighs in on historic landmarks and preservation, and the City Planning Commission, which considers development projects, held remote meetings this month.
