Plans from Jamison Services, Inc. to redevelop a portion of the Los Angeles World Trade Center with an apartment tower are inching toward approval.
An environmental study recently published by the City of Los Angeles offers new information on the proposed development, which would rise at 350 S. Figueroa Street. Plans call for the partial demolition of the World Trade Center's parking garage and retail concourse to make way for a 41-story high-rise containing 570 apartments in a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans. Jamison proposes to reallocate 155 parking spaces in the center's garage for use by residents.
Designed by CallistonRTKL, the slender glass-and-steel tower would rise to an architectural apex of 480 feet. Amenity decks would be placed at the building's third floor and above its roof, which would be distinguished from nearby office towers by an angled crown.
Construction of the tower is expected to occur over approximately 39 months.
The project, if completed, would be the second Downtown high-rise for Jamison Services, which partnered on the Circa apartment complex near Staples Center. The real estate investment firm has also proposed numerous residential towers in Koreatown.
The World Trade Center site sits directly across the street from the Los Angeles Hotel Downtown, where plans were announced for a more ambitious tower complex in 2018. However, that project's developer - Shenzhen New World Group - has since become embroiled in the FBI investigation into City Hall corruption.
