Just over one year after breaking ground in Downtown Santa Monica, wood framing is starting to rise for a mixed-use development at 1625 Lincoln Boulevard.
The project - which is being developed by Century West Partners - will consist of two five-story structures containing 191 apartments with 11,402 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Two levels of basement parking will sit beneath the housing complex.
KFA Architecture designed the project, which will feature a landscaped alley from Olympic Boulevard to Colorado Avenue through the center of the property. Pedestrian bridges will span across the alley, connecting the two contemporary buildings.
The development, which is on pace for completion in 2021, is the second phase of the adjoining Catherine apartments - a five-story, 90-unit apartment building which opened at 1601 Lincoln Boulevard earlier this year.
Also under construction to the immediate south is Junction Santa Monica, a 44-unit housing complex from Cypress Equity Investments.
Santa Monica-based developer WS Communities also has several projects in the pipeline for neighboring properties along Lincoln Boulevard and Colorado Avenue.
Century West Partners, an affiliate of Chicago-based developer Fifield, has previously built similar mixed-use projects in Koreatown and Glendale, and is planning another housing complex in Monrovia.
