In the unincorporated community of Westmont, construction is coming to a close at a more than $21-million supportive housing project from non-profit developer Abode Communities.
Westmont Vista, located at 1755 W. Imperial Highway, consists of a four-story structure containing 30 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments reserved for households earning 30 percent or less than the Los Angeles area median income.
Rent at the property will be set at approximately 30 percent of an applicant's household income, according to a leasing application distributed by Los Angeles County. This amounts to a maximum annual income of a $23,670 for a one-person households or $33,780 for a family of four.
The low-rise complex, designed by architects with Abode Communities, includes an on-site resident center, a courtyard, a laundry facility, and a playground.
Westmont Vista site is located roughly a quarter-mile north of an empty property at 11609 Western Avenue, where Affirmed Housing Group is planning a similar supportive housing complex.
Abode Communities is developing a handful of similar affordable housing projects in the Los Angeles area, including new apartment buildings slated for Boyle Heights and Westlake.
