In Vermont Square, an abandoned apartment building has made way for a new permanent supportive housing project.
The development site, located at 4604 S. Western Avenue, is approved for the construction of a five-story building featuring 49 studio and one-bedroom apartments, all of which would be reserved for formerly homeless persons. Construction at the property is currently limited to site preparation an foundation work.
Project entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, allowing the apartment complex to be built without an on-site parking garage.
The podium-type structure, designed by E.D.D.G., Inc., is portrayed in a conceptual rendering as a contemporary low-rise building, capped by a rooftop amenity deck.
The apartment complex is being developed by an entity affiliated with Roth Management Group of Hermosa Beach. According to a project landing page on the company's website, the Western Avenue development will include on-site services provided by Homeless Healthcare of Los Angeles, as well as a community room and computer lab for use by residents and neighbors.
