A few blocks west of Metro's Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station, construction is underway for a new development of affordable and permanent supportive housing.
The project, called Ashley Willowbrook, is now rising from a Los Angeles County-owned property at 11731-11739 Holmes Avenue. The three-story building will include 61 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, reserved for households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income.
Just under half of the apartments will be set aside as permanent supportive housing, catering to a mix of transition age youth, families, and other individuals.
KFA Architecture is designing the development, which is depicted in renderings as a contemporary low-rise structure flanked by a courtyard and other open space amenities for future residents.
Ashley Willowbrook is being developed by Integral Group, an Atlanta, Georgia-based developer which has built mixed-use and multifamily housing projects in markets across the United States.
Funding for the approximately $20.8 million project comes from a variety of state and local sources. According to a staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, rents at the property will range from $509 per month for a studio to as high as $1,309 per month for a three-bedroom unit.
The project follows several recent affordable and permanent supportive housing developments in the unincorporated Willowbrook community, including LINC Housing's Springhaven apartments and the Gateway senior housing complex from Thomas Safran & Associates.
