After three years of pre-development and construction, non-profit developer Skid Row Housing Trust is wrapping up work on its latest Downtown permanent supportive housing projects.
The 649 Lofts, located at the northwest corner of 7th and Wall Streets, is a seven-story building containing 47 studio apartments and a 25,000-square-foot health clinic.
The $27-million development, designed by Abode Communities, includes a series of outdoor decks distributed throughout the building.
The project, which was funded in part via Measure HHH, will cater to households earning 50 percent or less than the area median income.
Directly across the street, construction has come to a close at the Flor 401 Lofts, a six-story building containing 97 residential units.
The $50-million project, designed by Koning Eizenberg Architecture, is organized as two apartment blocks flanking a central courtyard.
Like its companion development, the apartments will cater to households earning 50 percent or less than the area median income.
Skid Row Housing, which is based in Downtown Los Angeles, is currently in the midst of construction on a similar supportive housing complex two blocks east at the intersection of 7th and San Pedro Streets. The developer is planning several other projects in its home neighborhood and the San Fernando Valley - including a proposed 14-story mass timber high-rise.
