One block west of Metro's PCH Station in Long Beach, the exterior of the Vistas del Puerto supportive housing development is beginning to take form.
The project, located at 1836-1852 Locust Avenue, is being developed by Clifford Beers Housing. The five-story building, which has already completed vertical construction, will include 48 residential units with on-site supportive services and open space.
The new apartments will provide rents considered to households earning at or below 30 and 50 percent of the area median income.
KFA Architecture designed the low-rise podium-type building, which will have a U-shaped footprint wrapping a central staircase.
The $26.5-million development is now on pace to occur this year.
Vistas del Puerto is one of a trio of affordable and permanent supportive housing developments near the PCH light rail station, following LINC Housing Corporation's Spark at Midtown and AMCAL Multi-Housing, Inc.'s Las Ventanas apartments.
Other projects now being developed by Clifford Beers include an under-construction apartment complex in the Broadway-Manchester neighborhood and the 180-unit Corazon del Valle project in Panorama City.
