Local real estate investment firm Christina has broken ground on a new multifamily residential development in West Hollywood.
The project, which replaced a 1950s apartment building at 1264 N. Harper Avenue, will consist of a new of a four-story, 24,000-square-foot edifice containing 17 residential units above a subterranean parking garage.
SPF:architects is designing 1264 Harper, which will use a 30-foot street-facing setback to create a "front yard," for residents, supplementing a courtyard planned for the center of the building and private roof decks. Renderings depict a contemporary low-rise structure clad in a series of perforated metal panels.
“The panel system gives the building a strong style profile, but ultimately its most important function is programmatic,” said SPF founder and principal Zoltan Pali in a 2018 statement describing the design of the building. “The precise way we patterned the aluminum and cement panels defines and separates the individual living spaces, resulting in a feel that’s more like a home amidst a community and less like the ubiquitous and repetitious apartment or condo compound.”
Completion of 1264 Harper is expected in 2022, according to a landing page on the SPF website.
Christina, the developer, is also invested in another West Hollywood housing project planned just north of the Sunset Strip, according to its company website.
