In Mar Vista, the wood framing has now reached the sixth and final level at Vista Ballona, a new affordable housing complex from Community Corp. of Santa Monica.

The project, located on a previously vacant site at 3960 Grand View Boulevard, will feature 50 one- and two-bedroom dwellings upon completion. Community Corp. intends to reserve the apartments for households earning at or below 30 and 60 percent of the area median income, with 12 units set aside for persons with developmental disabilities.
According to a staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, the apartments will command rents between $285 and $1,746 per month. The total budget for the development is $33.7 million.

At the time of the project's groundbreaking, completion was expected in 2021.
Community Corp., which is a prolific developer of affordable housing in its hometown of Santa Monica, has recently ventured into ground-up developments in a handful of other Westside communities. Besides Vista Ballona, the non-profit developer is also planning a new supportive housing project in Westchester.
