Just east of Metro's Culver City Station, co-developers LPC West and Clarion Partners are wrapping up work on an Apple-leased office building at Washington and National Boulevards, which is just about ready to welcome occupants. That new building could serve as the building block for a larger campus to be developed by the Cupertino-based tech giant.
Last week, in the announcement of its $430-billion U.S. investment plan, Apple indicated its intent to grow its Culver City office to more than 3,000 employees by the year 2026. That would be achieved by "expanding [the company's] state-of-the-art campus with additional space for these employees and more."
Apple has been rumored to have been exploring an expansion in Culver City for more than a year - plans which were all but confirmed in December 2020, when The Real Deal reported that Apple had paid approximately $162 million for a handful of properties surrounding its new building.
Renderings which have since been removed a project landing page on the LPC West website offered a glimpse of the project, which was depicted as a cluster of low-rise structures similar in appearance to the new building on Washington Boulevards. The new construction would front National and Venice Boulevard.
The announcement signals increased ambitions for Apple's Culver City office, which serves as the home base for its Apple TV production arm. It was previously reported that the company expected to employ more than 1,000 people in Culver City by 2022.
In addition to Apple, several other entertainment industry giants have recently set up shop in Culver City, including WarnerMedia - which will occupy a 240,000-square-foot building on the opposite side of National Boulevard - and Amazon Studios, which has leased the majority of the nearby Culver Studios campus.
