In South Los Angeles, the concrete podium of a modular supportive housing development is starting to take shape on Broadway.
Hope on Broadway, which replaced a mortuary at the northeast corner of 52nd Street and Broadway in South Park, is being built by Hope Street Development Group - a joint venture between HBG Construction Corp. and Aedis Real Estate Group. Plans call for the construction of a new building featuring 49 studio and one-bedroom apartments, as well as supportive services and resident amenities such as a courtyard and a roof deck.
KTGY Architecture + Planning is designing Hope on Broadway, which will have a monochrome exterior composed of perforated metal panels.
The approximately $22.2-million development will offer a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments upon completion. Rents will range from $768 to $913 per month, according to a 2020 staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee.
Completion of Hope on Broadway is expected in the second quarter of 2022.
Hope on Broadway is one of two under construction developments from Hope Street Development Group, joining a larger building which broke ground earlier this year in Hyde Park. HBG and Aedis have already completed one project in Westlake: Hope on Alvarado.
